Teen Summer Events!

Teen Book Club – Wednesday 7/5    11:30AM

We will be talking about Gabriel Finley and the Raven’s Riddle as well as The Last Boy at St. Edith’s. However, with the state library delivery system being down, we completely understand if you haven’t been able to receive/read these titles.  Come join us anyway and we will all chat about what we have been reading!

Maker Masters Crafternoon: Make a Book End – Thursday 7/6    2:00PM

  • Come craft up a book end! We will use tons of materials to decorate book ends for the library shelves.  They’ll be used in the YA section for everyone to admire

Getting To Know You/ Library Promo – Monday 7/10     6:00PM

  • We have a tall order for teens this summer. We are asking that you create a promotional video or presentation for the library!  You will have all summer long, you will be able to work with others or alone!  We’ll go over more details at this “Getting to Know You” program!  See you then!

  • This week we will be meeting at 1:30PM, but don’t worry we will be back to our 11:30AM schedule next week! Teen Writing Workshop – Thursday 7/13     5:00PM

  • Bring a sample of your writing to this workshop! It can be poetry, stories, school essays, or even just a journal entry!  We will be reading and reviewing everyone’s work with suggestions and helpful tips on how to improve.  All participants will have the option to remain anonymous if they choose, Ms. Robyn will be making copies of each sample and everyone will get one, so your name can be included or not, whichever you are comfortable with!  Hope to see you there!

Renew and Repurpose – Monday 7/17     2:00PM

  • We’ll be taking a look at how you can take old materials, clothes, and more and remake them into something amazing!

Beyond the Library Walls – Monday 7/31     2:00PM

  • Come join us to talk about how to be a more active part of your community beyond the library!

**SPECIAL VISITOR** Animal Embassy – Thursday 8/3     4:00PM

  • Be amazed by the talents of a diverse group of AnimalAmbassadors that build complicated structures. We’ll study the architectural feats of nest building, burrow making and web spinning as well as how structures created by some animalshelp others to survive. In nature, many creatures contribute to the success of others by building homes and creating places to rear their young. We’ll explore how we too can help our wild neighbors by building bird boxes and frog ponds. Library patrons will meet live Animal Ambassadors such as a Monk Parakeet, a Red Foot Tortoise, a Mandarin Duck, a Chilean Rose-Haired Tarantula, a Ferret, an Argentinian Horned Frog and an African Hedgehog or African Porcupine. We will also see artifacts & photographs representing one of nature’s most prolific builders, the beaver, along with bird & paper wasp nests. Together, we’ll draw parallels with our own lives while exploring how we can build a better world!

Pokémon Club – Wednesday 8/9      2:00PM

  • Whether you play the video games or cards or enjoy the show and movies, come play against or just chat with other friends interested in Pokémon! This is an independent program at which you can bring your own cards and relax and meet other players.  It is not a formal librarian-run program, but still a ton of fun!

Library Promo Party – Thursday 8/10     6:00PM

  • Today is the day to present your library promotion materials! Whether it is a video, poster, or pamphlet, bring it in and present it to our group!

Summer Reading Wrap Up Party – Friday 8/11     12:00 – 2:00PM

  • Come celebrate the end of Summer Reading with games and more! We will be taking out the giant games from last summer and enjoying the sunshine and outdoors!

Book Roast – Thursday 8/17     3:30PM

  • Have you ever read a book you hated? No, like hated.  How much?  Enough to rant and rant about all the things you couldn’t stand?  GREAT!  Come tell us why!  Rant, rave, give the worst review ever!  Reading is always awesome but sometimes there are books or characters we just love to hate! (No books will be harmed)

Better Together Movie Night! – Thursday 8/31     5:30PM

  • To conclude our summer of building a better world through hard work, compassion, and empathy, we will have a movie night with a film that celebrates all of these things! Come for a movie night to watch “Remember the Titans!” (Rated PG)
