Upcoming Teen Programs!

Posted: April 29, 2015 in Uncategorized

Hey there! We have a couple of upcoming tween and teen programs coming up in May, and I think you’ll all enjoy them. They are Minecraft Meetup and Teen Tech Club! Check out the descriptions for each below:

Minecraft Meetup

Monday, May 11th – 4:00 PM

Bring your laptop and play Minecraft with other fans! Here’s a chance to discuss techniques, share worlds, and hang out. Snacks will be provided!

Teen Tech Club

Thursday, May 21st – 3:00 PM

Are you interested in coding? Robotics? Gaming? Digital photography & photo editing? Blogging? Animation? Digital art? Web design? Come talk with fellow techies about your interests and help develop tech programs in the library. This is an introductory meeting that will be used to brainstorm future tech programs.

Neither of these programs require registration. Just come if you’d like, hang out, and chat about things you’re interested it. I want to create more programs and events that YOU guys will enjoy, participate in, and want to be involved with. I want to make the library a place that you can come to create, make, get inspired, hang out, and gain some hands on experiences in the subjects you’re interested in. Here’s to a great year! 🙂

Greetings from Sara!

Hello everyone! I’m Sara, and I’m the new Children’s Librarian at Oxford Public Library, which also makes me the YA Librarian as well! I’m very excited to meet everyone and to be a part of your community. I have a lot of programming ideas and I look forward to having lots of fun with you all!

I thought I’d share a few fun facts about myself:

  • I previously worked in the Children’s department of North Haven Memorial Library
  • I’m from the New Haven area
  • I have many hobbies including photography, blogging, fashion, and baking
  • I play guitar and ukulele, as well as a little piano
  • I love being outdoors (except for in the winter)
  • I am a fan of Disney, Harry Potter, superheroes/comics, and Lord of the Rings among other things
  • I believe the library is more than a place to study and learn, but also a place to share, create, collaborate, and come together as a community
  • I love working with kids and teens!

Now you know a little about me, and I can’t wait to learn all about you! Stop on down to the library to say hello and let me know what you’d like to see happen at the library. I want to make it a place where YOU feel comfortable to hang out, participate, and have fun. Anything can turn into a program or club! The sky’s the limit! 🙂
