Get ready for national Teen Tech Week with a Teen Tech Video-Making Workshop on Thursday, March 4 at 5:30 PM. Use our Flip video camera to make a “Tour of the Library” documentary, which will be used to teach children about our library.

This program is a special meeting of the Junior Friends of the Library, but all tweens and teens are welcome! Registration is required for this free program. Visit or call the library to sign up.

Decorate for Dogs!

The library needs a new box to collect food and toys for the Oxford Animal Shelter. Use your creativity to help make the box look awesome! Come to Decorate for Dogs on Thursday, January 21 at 5:30 PM. It’s a great way to help the community while hanging out with friends. Plus, there’s free snacks!

This activity is part of the Junior Friends and Children’s Advisory Board Joint Meeting. Membership in these groups is not necessary. No registration is required for this free program.

All tweens and teens are invited to party at the library! Stop by our Holiday Party on Monday, December 14 at 6:30 PM to make a festive craft, eat snacks, and celebrate with your friends! Visit or call the library to put your name on the guest list!

Puppets!

Do you enjoy arts and crafts? Do you like to work with children? If you answered “yes,” then read on!

On Thursday, November 19 at 7 PM, the Junior Friends of the Library will meet to plan a children’s puppet-making program. In December, the Junior Friends will help children make paperbag puppets and then hold a fashion show to display the finished products. The Junior Friends will also act as judges and award prizes to the puppetmakers.

Anyone in grades 6-12 is welcome to join the Junior Friends and help out with the puppet show. Check out the “About” page for more information about this group.

Celebrate National Teen Read Week!

National Teen Read Week is October 18-24. To celebrate, the library is hosting a Vampire Party on Monday, October 19 at 6:30 PM and a felt Jack-o’-Lantern craft workshop on Thursday, October 22 at 7 PM, both for tweens and teens in grades 6-12. (Registration is required for both of these FREE programs.)

Come to the library to enjoy these activities – or one of the other events happening this month – and while you’re there, borrow some of our new books!

Read to Win Wrap-Up

Congratulations to the winners of this summer’s Read to Win! raffles. Check out their photos on the Pictures page.

The teens in the summer reading program did an impressive job! Seventy young adults in grades 6-12 registered for Read to Win! The participants in this program read and reviewed an amazing 141 books.

Come back to the library this fall to read your friends’ book reviews. They’ll be on display during Teen Read Week in October. In the mean time, I’m working on a big book order, so there should be some fun new reads on the shelves soon.

Read to Win at the Oxford Public Library this summer! For each book you read, write a short review (about 3-4 sentences) and receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes from our sponsors:

Grand Prize: Autographed Photo of Mike Lowell, third baseman of the Boston Red Sox

Registration for the summer reading program begins on Thursday, June 25 and continues into July.
